I Like Him But He Says He Loves Me

A Friend Wrote: hi. im just ritin to u kuz u know i trst u not to say nutthin therez dis boy dat i like alot i met him in skool last year but like he always tell me he lovez me but i dnt feel that way wi him i dnt love him but i like him

Saved By Faith Replied: There is a big difference between liking and loving someone and I’m glad to hear that you know the difference between the two and don’t say “I love you” to just anyone. I know, as a teenager, emotions and hormones run wild and it’s so easy to get caught up in saying something you don’t really mean. Love is a very powerful word and should not be used lightly. He probably likes you (a lot) but thinks ‘love’ is the appropriate word for it. First thing’s first, be honest with him.

Let him know that you think he’s fun and you like hanging around him but you don’t love him. If he saying ‘I love you’ makes you uncomfortable, you have to let him know. Try to speak to him in a neutral, calm way. It’s always easier to get your point across when you speak out of love instead of harsh words.

Proverbs 16:24
Kind words are like honey—sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

Being honest is always the best way to go.

Truth shall spring up from the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven. Psalm 85: 11
